What's a durable, attractive flooring to put in a rental house?

The carpeting is ruined so I don't want that again. What's a good alternative? I do want the floor to be attractive yet easy to care for and durable. Thanks

Any ideas on how to install laminate flooring on steps when the stair nose isn't thick enough?

How do you take scuff marks out of Pergo laminate flooring?

I just moved into my new home and it appears the previous owners didn't take much care when moving out their furniture. I KNOW these marks weren't there previously, because we checked all that closely.

The marks look like when you scuff your rubber shoe sole against a floor. When you run your finger across it, you can't feel it, so I don't think it is a divot or cut into the wood. It almost looks like the sheen has just been taken out of the wood finish.

We have tried to lightly scrub the Pergo laminate floors with a pad and cleaner Lowe's recommended, but it didn't work at all.

These things are REALLY long, so any help we can give them would be great.

Does anyone know any tips or tricks for removing/improving Pergo floor scuffs??
